It tells the story of independence fighters who fought desperately in Harbin, far away from their homeland in 1909, to regain their homeland which was about to fall into the hands of the Japanese Empire. Hyun Bin will play the role of Ahn Jung-geun, the lieutenant general of the Korean righteous army, Park Jung-min will play the role of Woo Deok-soon, an independence fighter who considers his country rather than leaving his name behind, Jo Woo-jin will play the role of Kim Sang-hyun, an independence fighter who works with Ahn Jung-geun (Hyun Bin) to regain his lost homeland, Jeon Yu-yun will play Mrs. Kong of the independence army, Yoo Jae-myung will play Choi Jae-hyung, the assistant of the righteous Ahn Jung-geun, and Park Hoon will play Morita Yu of the Japanese Empire. The film will be shot on location in Latvia and Mongolia. On October 26, 1909, An Jung-geun successfully assassinated the culprit of the invasion of Korea, former Japanese Prime Minister Ito Hirobumi, in Harbin, China, and was arrested on the spot. The Japanese Kwantung Governor-General's Office District Court sentenced Ahn Jung-geun to death by hanging, and he was executed in Lushun, China on March 26, 1910. Ahn Jung-geun is called a "patriotic martyr" and a "righteous man" by North Korea and South Korea respectively. On January 19, 2014, the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall opened in Harbin, China.
