Adapted from the novel of the same name, this film tells the story of Keiichi Kaburagi, who was arrested as a suspect in a murder case in which a couple was killed and sentenced to death. He escaped during the transfer. The news of Kaburagi's escape was widely reported on TV and other media, and although the police tried their best to track down Kaburagi's whereabouts, they still failed to catch him. On the other hand, Yuko Io, the mother of the husband of the couple who were victims of the incident, suffers from dementia and is still recuperating in a nursing home due to the trauma of the incident. Kaburagi changed his name and appearance while running away in his hiding place. He met many people including Nonomura Kazuya, a worker at the construction site, and rescued them from difficulties. When Nonomura and others found out that Kaburagi was a wanted death row inmate, they began to question "Is he really a murderer?"
