David (James Marsden) is a well-known playwright. In order to have a better creative environment, David and his wife Amy (Kate Bosworth) returned to their scenic southern hometown. The fresh air and leisurely life in their hometown made the two tired city people feel very novel, and under this beautiful scenery, the natives were not friendly to the newly arrived couple. With a peaceful attitude, David chose to silently endure all kinds of discrimination from the outside world. Even after his wife was raped by a local construction worker, he just hoped to make a big deal out of a small matter. However, David's blind tolerance was exchanged for more severe bullying. When a group of "barbarians" tried to break into his house, the once cowardly David chose to take up arms to fight to defend his last home.
