The down-and-out boxer Tange Danpei (played by Teruyuki Kagawa) is chased by gangsters because of his debts. A passerby, Yabuki Jō (played by Tomohisa Yamashita), comes to his rescue and drives the gangsters back with his excellent striking instincts. Jō Yabuki, an orphan with a long criminal record, is imprisoned for this fight. Danpei admires Jō's talent very much and hopes to teach him boxing skills. However, Jō, who only wants to be happy now, has no intention of learning boxing until he meets a strong rival Rikiishi Toru (played by Iseya Yusuke) in prison. Rikiishi, who was once a professional boxer, easily defeats Jō. Feeling frustrated in his self-esteem, Jō begins to practice diligently according to the boxing instructions sent by Danpei. Shiraki Group's daughter Shiraki Yoko (played by Karina) cooperates with the prison to hold a prison boxing match, so Jō is able to compete with Shiraki's boxer Rikiishi again and draws a tie with a cross punch. Soon, the two were released from prison one after another. Rikiishi once again stepped onto the boxing ring, while Jō followed Danpei to enter the professional boxing match. The unfinished victory or defeat of the two ultimately needs an ending...
