The TV series version of Ip Man is expected to be broadcast on major TV stations in 2013, recreating the myth of martial arts on TV screens in 2013 and setting off a new wave of enthusiasm for Chinese martial arts. Compared with TV series on martial arts masters such as Huo Yuanjia, The Legend of Chen Zhen, and Young Huang Feihong, the TV series version of Ip Man will no longer focus only on the master Ip Man himself, but will reflect the fate of all martial artists in that turbulent era through Ip Man's legendary life. Chief screenwriter Zhang Tan said, "We are not only telling a story about Ip Man, but also a story about Chinese martial arts. We should remember those martial artists who lived in that era like Ip Man and deeply believed that martial arts can strengthen the people and the country."
