Dave (Adam Sandler) has a gentle appearance and a beautiful girlfriend Linda (Marisa Tomei). But he lost control of his emotions during a flight and was sent to "emotion management" training. The person in charge of the course, psychiatrist Buddy (Jack Nicholson), is a little crazy himself. He created the "emotion management" theory and treatment center, and related books are selling well. The patients in the center all have weird tempers. Buddy constantly forces Dave to do something almost crazy, making Dave feel that even if he is not crazy, he will be driven crazy. The court believes that Dave's progress is too slow and wants to send him to prison. Dave, who is forced into a desperate situation, has to endure Buddy's stimulation therapy. Dave feels that his limit is coming. He hesitates between the two choices of retreating and closing his heart, or bravely facing his complete self... Will the adjustment between Dr. Buddy and the patient Dave be a bright future, or will he fall into an endless inner black hole?
