Tathagata sent four masters and apprentices and Little White Dragon to the Tang Dynasty in the East to preach. Tathagata had an appointment with Emperor Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty supported Buddhism. Tathagata needed to send a capable national teacher to stabilize his imperial foundation. He gave him a pill of elixir and a treasure map of inexhaustible treasures. Tang Monk and his four apprentices encountered various monsters and demons along the way. Some came for the elixir, some came for the treasure map. They suffered 81 disasters along the way, and a series of unpredictable and bizarre stories unfolded.
