The story of the film is set in Mitsutsu High School, a place where students have the same hairstyle, wear the same uniforms, carry the same backpacks, and wear the same shoes. They have no personality at all, and even their actions are controlled by strict "black school rules." However, there is still a unique existence among this group of students without personality. Onoda Soraku, a sophomore in high school, lives at the bottom of the class and has the worst youth. His classmate and good friend Tsukioka Nakamiya is completely different from him and is a maverick. The two of them have their eyes on the same girl, who disobeys school rules and dyes her hair chestnut. Soraku secretly likes her with beautiful chestnut hair. For this girl, Soraku and Nakamiya decide to break the school rules.
