Edee Mathis, a lawyer played by Robin Wright, is filled with sorrow and decides to erase her traces from society. After consulting with survival experts on the Internet, she "disappears" to one of the most inaccessible places in the United States: the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming. Mathis lives in a wooden house and learns to hunt, fish, and plant on her own to fight the local harsh winters, cruel terrain, and beasts that kill people.
