At the turn of the old and new centuries in 1899, European countries were in a rare period of peace. However, a newly rising evil force, under the planning of its leader "Ghost", created misunderstandings and frictions among countries with advanced weapons that were unheard of at the time, hoping to ignite the flames of a world war. The British government invited the legendary adventurer Alan Cotman (Sean Connery) who lived in seclusion in Africa to solve the crisis. Although Alan was tired of adventure, he could not bear to see the African continent fall into war, so he formed a gentleman's alliance with the female vampire Mina, Dr. Jekyll and Hyde, the invisible man Skinner, the handsome young man Gray who was immortal, Captain Nemo, and the American agent Tom Sawyer, and took Captain Nemo's Parrot submarine to Venice to stop the ghost's conspiracy. After the battle in Venice, the alliance discovered that this action was actually a chess game arranged by the ghost, all just to obtain the superpowers of each member of the alliance in order to realize his greater ambitions.
