Gao Jin (played by Chow Yun-fat) came to Hong Kong to fight the gambling devil. Unexpectedly, he was chased by Nan Ge (played by Yang Zelin) as soon as he arrived in Hong Kong. As a result, he fell into a trap and lost his memory. Fortunately, Dao Zai (played by Andy Lau) and his girlfriend Zhen (played by Wang Zuxian) rescued him. They took Gao Jin home for recuperation. After discovering that Gao Jin was proficient in gambling, they were very excited and wanted to use him to make a lot of money, but instead lost money because of Gao Jin's unstable performance. Gao Jin's wife was insulted and killed by his cousin Gao Yi after getting drunk. Gao Yi then joined forces with Nan Ge to plot the murder of Gao Jin, searched everywhere for Jin's hiding place, and went to kill him. While fleeing, Gao Jin overturned and was injured, and he actually recovered his memory-but he could not remember what happened during his amnesia. Dao Zai reminded Jin that Gao Yi was not a good person, but Jin was already in the dark and did not know that danger was coming.
