Queen Victoria (Judi Dench) has long forgotten how long she has been on the throne. The days before she ascended the throne seem like memories of her previous life. The court life full of red tape makes Queen Victoria feel exhausted, and the upcoming celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne also makes the old lady feel suffocated. During the celebration, Queen Victoria unexpectedly met a male servant named Abdul (Ali Fazal). This energetic young man brought the Queen a refreshing feeling. Abdul was an ordinary office worker who flew from India to the UK specifically to attend the celebration. Abdul's existence made the Queen realize that outside her court, there was actually a colorful new world that she had never imagined.
