"Shangyiyuan" is mainly set in the Joseon Dynasty. It tells the story of making clothes for the king and the queen in the palace. The newcomer who makes clothes for the king is gifted, but because of his straightforward personality, he arouses the jealousy of the highest craftsman in the royal family. After that, the two started fighting openly and secretly in the palace. Gao Xiu plays a talented craftsman who has a talent for making clothes, but because of his straightforward nature, he bypasses the king and the queens to make clothes for himself. Han Suk-kyu plays the most capable craftsman of the time who has been making clothes for the king in the palace since the previous king, but Gao Xiu's genius gradually makes him feel desperate. Park Shin-hye plays a character who hides her regret for the cold king in her heart, and maintains the identity of an aloof queen on the surface, but on the other hand, she cherishes talent.
