It is reported that Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac will co-star in director Terry George's (Hotel Rwanda) new film "The Promise". The film is a love movie, and the script is written by Robin Swicord, the screenwriter of "Memoirs of a Geisha". The story is set in the last years of the Ottoman Empire (1922), and Chris, an American journalist stationed in Paris played by Bale, Michael, a medical student played by Isaac, and the heroine Anna will stage a lingering love triangle in troubled times. The characters played by Bale and Isaac represent the rules of the new world and the traditions of the old world respectively. The collision of the two actors and the cultural symbols they carry will surely be a highlight of the film. The film will start shooting in southern Europe this fall, with filming locations including Portugal and the Canary Islands in Spain.
