The film is adapted from Michael Zadoorian's novel of the same name. It tells the story of a seriously ill elderly couple who drove an old RV from Massachusetts to Hemingway's former residence, looking back on their lives on the journey. John is a literature teacher and writer, and a die-hard Hemingway fan. Although Alzheimer's disease has made his memory worse and worse, and he even forgets the names of his wife and children, he can still recite all of Hemingway's works, and "The Old Man and the Sea" is his favorite. Because his wife Ella is seriously ill and needs to be hospitalized, John can only enter a nursing home. The two who have walked hand in hand for a lifetime are facing a future of separation forever. So, they made a crazy decision and decided to drive the RV named "LeisureSeeker" all the way south from Massachusetts, looking back on the vacation trip they took with their children in the 1970s, and the destination is Hemingway's former residence in Key West.
